HURRICANE KATRINA WAS VERY BAD

HURRICANE KATRINA WAS VERY BAD

Hurricane Katrina suddenly blossomed into a killer storm
The winds, waves, and storm surge were way above the norm
Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi this storm did ravage
The force of the waters and wind were fierce and mighty savage

The levee around New Orleans suffered a major breach
The murky flood waters to the rooftops did quickly reach
Many people lost their lives, possessions and their home
Some folks sought refuge in the New Orleans Superdome

One day things were normal as people walked around
The next day debris and water covered the ground
I can only imagine the great flood of Noah's day
When upon the whole earth the flood waters did lay

Why did this major disaster happen you may ask
To recover from this ordeal will be a major task
I believe Katrina came to remind us of God's power
That can topple the world's most well built tower

The Lord has said that all things work together for good
People are helping each other in their neighborhood
Hurricane Katrina has greatly affected the USA
The Louisiana Governor declared August 31 as a day to pray

The Bible story of Job tells of his woe and grief
When everything was taken from him by that old thief
Job stated that the Lord gives and the Lord takes away
He believed that God would help him see a better day

The Lord God controls the times and the seasons
For Hurricane Katrina he had his divine reasons
I pray that many people to the Lord God would turn
And from Hurricane Katrina many lessons learn

THE SILVER AND GOLD IS MINE

THE SILVER AND GOLD IS MINE

Many ounces of silver and gold have been found
Some in gurgling rivers and beneath the ground
God placed all that silver and gold there
I just found a silver dime under my chair

It is amazing where silver and gold can turn up
Gold has been fashioned into many a pretty cup
Tons of gold and silver have been lost in the sea
Treasure hunters will dive for it for a hefty fee

Man does not really own the silver and gold
Through the ages much has been bought and sold
Without gold or silver man came from the womb
And he can't take any with him to his tomb

He dies and leaves his gold and silver for others to use
Much of it is spent on gambling, sport and booze
Not a single silver or gold coin is of use in death
It is all left behind when man draws his last breath

Greed has been the downfall of many a nation and man
Some lost their life over that gold nugget in that little pan
Life on earth is very uncertain and is very short
Where are all those people who built the Knox Fort

I know that God is the owner of all the silver and gold
He even has gold paved streets in heaven it is told
So remember that the gold and silver is not your own
It was given to you from God as a temporary loan

Treasures laid up in heaven are safe and secure
Turn your eyes upon Jesus and from gold's alure
He'll give you peace of mind that thieves cannot steal
And life eternal in heaven that is O so real

You Want Revival? It Takes Prayer

YOU WANT REVIVAL? IT TAKES PRAYER

Joel 2 verse 17 "Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?"

Indeed, where is our God? The God of Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Elijah, Elisha, Paul, Peter, John and others is waiting for our prayers unto him. I don't know about you, but I know we need a revival in our land, a great turning unto the LORD God. He is waiting to show himself strong in behalf of those who love him. Prayer is the key to moving the hands of God, and the effectual fervant prayer of a righteous man availeth much. When is the last time you have gathered with others just to pray? Maybe your church is going through a dry spell, and you earnestly want the LORD to do a new work in your midst. Gather together to pray.

I remember my late Uncle Rev. Owen Rozier's church, Pleasant Hill, having a revival right after Uncle Owen went to be with Jesus (see story below). Although I was not a member there, I was invited to a men's prayer meeting before the revival was to begin. We turned the lights down low, and gathered around the altar to seek God's blessings upon the revival (out of over 70 men that attended that church, there were only 15 of us there praying). Let me tell you, the glory of the Lord fell down in that little Baptist church, as we all brokenly poured out our hearts to the Lord. To hear grown men weeping before the altar is a sound I will never forget!

The next week, the Lord added 15 souls to that church, and the members were greatly encouraged. What if ALL 70+ men had attended? Maybe the Lord would have added 70+. Prayer is the key!

Joel 2 verse 18 "Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people."

Gone Home...God Honors Faith And His Servants

This is a short version from story number five (out of 50) from my recently published book, My Walk with the Lord.

Psalm 116.15: "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints."

I had a dear uncle, the Rev. Owen Rozier, who came down with cancer. Although his body was weak, his faith in the Lord was strong. Just like the verse in Amazing Grace "Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come", Uncle Owen had his share of tribulations while preaching the word for over thirty years. He and my father, the late Rev. A.J. Rozier, were close in age and close as brothers. Daddy went home to be with the Lord in 1966, and here it was in 1987.

On July 17, 1987, about 7 PM, the Lord spoke to me and said, "I'm going to take Uncle Owen home tonight. Go on over to his house." As I was driving over there, the song "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone" came on the radio. It played twice. As tears filled my eyes, the Lord gave confirmation of what He had told me.

When I arrived at Uncle owen's, I noticed several other cars were there. Other people started arriving. No one had called them to come. The Lord drew them so Uncle Owen could preach his last sermon. We all gathered around his bed; I read Psalm 23. Uncle Owen called on someone to pray, and then feebly preached his last sermon..the few words he spoke was precious.

As one of his daughters sang a beautiful song, one she hadn't sung in 20 years, Uncle Owen took his last breath and went home to be with Jesus.

What was amazing about this, is several days earlier, Uncle Owen told me that he desired to preach one more service. As I prayed for him that day, I asked God to honor his request. On his deathbed, Uncle Owen preached a sweet service. God honors the faith of his servants!

Rev 14.13: "And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me. Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them."

Clinging to the Lord

CLINGING TO THE LORD

I'm clinging to the Lord with all my might
Waiting for him to shed some heavenly light
On the burdens that are troubling me sore
When he speaks the word they will be no more

Clinging to the promises he has made to me
I'm always watching for what his answer will be
I know at the right time he will lift my heavy load
I believe the promise is coming down my dusty road

My strength is ebbing yet I know that I will see
My burdens rolled away and then sweet victory
Jesus is the one to whom I must tightly hold
He cares for me because I am of his fold

WE ARE NOT OF THIS WORLD

As a Christian, we have to remember the famous prayer of Jesus in John 17....He prayed for us and one of the statements he made was in verse 16 "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world".

In today's "world" of instant communications, Christian's too often get caught up in the things of the world.....We must remember that the world is not our home, we are just pilgrims and strangers here. If people like Parson Robertson and others would just remember this, and strive to add souls to the kingdom instead of wanting to get rid of them, our Savior and soon coming King would be better served.

This world is a wicked place...why? Because our adversary, the Devil, roams to and fro seeking who he may devour. He came to kill, steal and destroy...Jesus came to give life and give it more abundantly..

Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full into his wonderful face, and the things of the world will become strangely dim.

Lord Jesus, I pray for Mr. Robertson, and those who are too focused on the things of this world. I know, O Lord, that you are in control of the affairs of the world, and nothing happens without your permission. I ask, O Lord, that you raise up strong soldiers in your Army, ones that realize that flesh and blood are not our enemies, but our enemies are principalities, and powers of darkness. All people walking on this earth are known by you. You know your sheep, O Lord, and you also know those who are ruled by the prince of darkness. Strengthen your children, O Lord, for the battle; impart wisdom, knowledge and understanding, O Lord, I pray. May your perfect will be done in earth as it is in heaven.

AN OPEN DOOR..REVEALED BY GOD IN A DREAM

AN OPEN DOOR
By Irvin L. Rozier

AN OPEN DOOR

Acts 16.9 "And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us."

I had been seeking God's will for service when I read the above scripture. As I went to prayer and asked God to open the door of opportunity, I had the blessed assurance that this prayer was to be shortly answered.

A couple of nights later, I went to sleep and had a dream. In this dream, the congregation of a small country church was holding a business meeting. They had recently been sent a new pastor, but his circuit prevented him from coming to preach every Sunday. The members of the church desired to hold services every Sunday but were without a preacher. In my vision, I recognized some of the members of the church who had already gone on to be with the Lord. One of them stood up and said, "Why don't we call Irvin and ask him to come preach every second and fourth Sunday?" The whole congregation agreed. I awoke from my vivid dream and the Lord spoke to me and said, "The dream is real, they'll call you to come preach so accept the mission."

I knew many members of the church...my brother-in-law, the Rev. Joe Thigpen, had been co-pastor there for 25 years. I had filled in for him several times and had helped keep up the cemetery for several years. The people there were good, kind-hearted folks who loved their community and their church. Many times when I was mowing the cemetery, one or more people would stop by to pay their respects to their dear departed ones. This was a great opportunity to minister to them and pray with the ones who were troubled. I've seen the Lord work in lives through this experience.

About two weeks after my dream, one of the church members called me and said, "We've had a meeting in the church and everybody is in agreement. If you could, would you come on the second and fourth Sundays and preach for us?" I replied, "Yes, the Lord has already revealed to me that my next mission would be preaching for you." I ministered there for four years and the Lord greatly blessed that little church, both spiritually and materially.

There is nothing like a little white country church set on a rolling hill that reminds you of the simple fact of the Christian faith. God is love. During my time there, several of the older members went on to be with the Lord. I had the privilege of preaching their funerals and I can still recall the sounds of their voices singing, "When they ring those golden bells for you and me."

Psalm 133.1 : "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for the brethren to dwell together in unity."

HEAVY HEART FOR THE CHURCH

Status: online Yes, I do. Easter of last year, I went with my daughter and her husband to their church. The sermon was kinda dry, although the music was pretty spiritual. The Lord laid it on my heart (I was led by the Spirit) to share the following story after the pastor's sermon. At the invitation, I walked down the isle (I was the only one with 400 sets of eyes on me), and asked the pastor if I could share the following story. He refused to let me share, and stated "Come back next week, we'll discuss it and then I'll decide if I'll let you share". When I heard those words, I immediately turned, brushed my hands (shake off the dust), and walked out. As I did I could see (in a vision) our Savior's sad face. I had a message to give to his children, and it was rejected. I was not the one rejected...the Lord Jesus was. If I had given this testimony, many hearts would have been touched. Here is what I was going to tell..on Easter Sunday:

THE EASTER LILY by Irvin L. Rozier

On December 19, 2003, I was missing my parents, who had gone on to be with Jesus. My Dad, Rev. A.J. Rozier, died on December 22, 1966. He was 40 years old and we buried him Christmas day, 1966. My mother, Mary, died on January 7, 2001. She was 71.

I woke up that cold December morning and drove to the family cemetery where my parents are buried. I arrived there, and sat in my warm truck as I recalled precious memories of Daddy and Mama. After several minutes. I opened the door of my truck, got out, and slowly walked the short distance to my parents' graves. As I did, I pulled the collar of my jacket tightly around my neck. We had already had several days of freezing weather and it was cold and windy that morning. I approached my Daddy's grave, saw something, and stared with disbelief. There, growing beside the grave, was one Easter Lily...IN FULL BLOOM. As tears filled my eyes, the presence of the Lord was strong as He gently reminded me through this flower, that He still lives. And because He lives, my parents live also, and I will see them again one day.

With rejoicing in my heart, I picked the Easter Lily, carried it to my sister, and it blessed her, too. Consider the lilies, how much more does Jesus care for us.

Luke 24 verse 5 "And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?"
Verse 6, " He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,"

Irvin L. Rozier, author of My Walk with the Lord, www.selahbooks.com

Later, this pastor was so troubled, that he could not sleep. I was praying earnestly for him as the Lord laid a prayer burden on me for him. He was born again this year, but is no longer the pastor of that church. He was a Doctor Reverend..he had the head knowledge but not the heart knowledge. I thank the Lord for using me in such a marvelous way.

A NEW SONG

A NEW SONG

I was sitting at my kitchen table one night
So troubled and confused when I saw the light
I picked up the dusty Bible my mama gave me
Opened it up to Psalm 40 and verse three

I called on the Lord in my deep despair
He gloriously saved me at my kitchen chair
Now he has given me a new song to sing
About my Lord and savior and soon coming king

He saved my soul and filled me with great joy
When I was born again, a brand new boy
I'm so glad that Jesus came and saved me
Loosed the chains of darkness and set me free

Gave me peace and joy from on high
My soul was so light I could fly
The Lord filled me with a thirst for his word
The sweetest words I've ever read or heard

From Genesis to Revelation I read and read
As manna from heaven filled my heart and head
I read that Jesus loves me as the story did unfold
In His loving arms the whole world he does hold

I will never cease to love the one who died for me
I know that heaven is a real place and there I will be
With Jesus and loved ones who have gone on before
I am so thankful he came into my heart's door

ELVIS PRESLEY GOSPEL

Elvis Presley Gospel

Elvis died 16 August 1977....His first love was gospel music...I have most of the songs he recorded..One of my favorites is "Farther Along"....It's about life and the things we don't understand but one day, Farther Along, we'll understand.

He also does a beautiful rendition of "How Great Thou Art"...I remember watching his concerts, and he always closed with a gospel song, even when he went on the Ed Sullivan show. I believe that his gospel songs were really sung from his heart and soul.

HIGHWAYS AND BYWAYS

HIGHWAYS AND BYWAYS

Matthew 9.11: "And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your master with publicans and sinners?"

The Lord led me to our local coffee shop, the Huddle House, as part of my ministry. I often sit and talk with others who are not Christians. Many, many times, these people have opened up to me and many have asked me to pray for them.

I was sitting there one night with a Christian friend and we were having sweet fellowship discussing the Lord and his ways. I looked up and saw one of the men with whom I had often had conversations over a cup of coffee. The Holy Spirit quickened me and tears came into my eyes. My Christian brother, Mike, said, "What's wrong?" I replied, "See that man over there? He is about to die." As I spoke these words, Mike was also touched by the Holy Ghost who confirmed the truth of what I had stated. I asked the Lord to open the door of opportunity for me to speak to this man about his eternal destiny.

A few weeks later, I saw this man and he looked tired and discouraged. He told me that he had just found out he was ate up with cancer (he was 50 years old), and the doctors had given him just a few months to live. I began to talk to him about Jesus and then I prayed for him. As I prayed, I asked the Lord to save him and to have His way and will. God can heal anything, yet the most important thing to be healed is the heart. You must have Jesus in your heart if you want to go to heaven.

This man's health rapidly declined, and the day before he died, I went to see him. Although he could not talk, walk, feed or bathe himself, he knew I was there. As I prayed for him, tears filled both our eyes as the Lord's presence came upon us. I know I'll see him again one day in the sweet by and by. Jesus saves!

The Lord had revealed this man's soon coming death to me, so I could pray for him and point him to Calvary. He died within three months of the Lord's revelation unto me.

Matthew 18.11 "For the son of man is come to save that which was lost."

PLANS AND PREPARATIONS

PLANS AND PREPARATIONS

People all over the world are making preparations
Some are making plans for wedding celebrations
Some are making plans to move to a new location
And some are making plans for a special vacation

Young couples are preparing for their first child's birth
Farmers are preparing to plant seeds in the fresh earth
Soldiers are packing and preparing to go off to battle
Ranchers are preparing hay to feed their hungry cattle

Teachers prepare their lesson plans for the school year
Students prepare for school with new clothes and gear
Athletes prepare and plan for opening ball game day
Parents prepare their budgets so the bills they can pay

Making plans and preparations are a part of this life
The band is preparing to march to the sound of the fife
As your journey on earth unfolds from day to day
I hope you made some plans to kneel and to pray

I would like to ask you a very deep question
Have you made plans for your last preparation?
Put some thought in your answer to me
What will be your final destination be?

CASES OF UNUSED BIBLES...THE POEM

CASES OF UNUSED BIBLES

A friend of mine telephoned me the other day
He said come on up to South Carolina way
I have cases of unused Bibles still in the box
I will give them to you said my friend Mike Cox

I drove I-95 to the other side of Marion Lake
I was thinking unused Bibles for goodness sake
I'll take those Bibles and pass them around
They need to be used and not in boxes bound

I had a great visit with Mike and his son
They were renovating a motel and having fun
The motel building had been vacant for awhile
The old furniture and fixings made quite a pile

Jonathan Johnson bought the sad looking place
He said I'll change it and give it a new face
Soon those old rooms will be nice living quarters
Owned by the residents and not rented by boarders

I loaded the cases of Bibles and away I drove
Brought them back home to my pecan grove
I then asked the Lord who to give them to
To the inmates in the local jail I gave a few

Now those Bibles are not collecting dust
People are reading about God in whom I trust
The Word has been bound for far too long
It was good to hear Brother Mike sing a song

CASES OF BIBLES FROM SOUTH CAROLINA

Hey, sorry I haven't responded until now...I have been to South Carolina. A friend of mine is there (we used to do ministry work together..he'd sing and I would preach), and he called me to come get some Bibles. He is renovating a big hotel, and he found several cases of unused Gideon Bibles. I got him to sing a few songs, "Crank Up the Music, Let's Have Church", and "Soul Filin' Station". We had a wonderful visit and prayer time, I came back and have already given away three cases of Bibles (I have 1 and 1/2 left).

I do a nursing home ministry and play all types of gospel music, old ones, new ones...I have had 92 year olds up and dancing in the spirit, some that couldn't clap their hands, tapped their feet...yes, we need a mixture...and that can only come by being led of the Holy Ghost..He knows what each person needs.

I know what you are saying about "biting your tongue"...The Lord does say in Eccl that there is a time to speak and a time to keep silent..It is hard for most people (particularly those set in their ways) to let go and let Jesus take over...but prayer can change things..keep on praying for your pastor and church, and the Lord will answer.

I wrote this poem about a little Methodist church..it had dwindled down to almost nothing, but they kept on praying. The church now is thriving..spiritually and in other ways...They have a great influx of youth and a wonderful program. They have built a social hall and broke ground to expand the sanctuary..mind you, nothing fancy but the extra space is needed...Most of all, the Spirit of the Lord is there, and there is a great love one for another...I preached at that church before to four members, and now they have around 150. Here is the poem I wrote:

WARD MEMORIAL CHURCH by Irvin L. Rozier

A small white church sits at the edge of town
Some people said why don't you tear it down
After all, the congregation is only three or four
You might as well close the church door

These few saints, faithful to the Lord
Kept the door open though they could barely afford
To pay the preacher, the utilities and the rest
They gave from their hearts their very best

To the Lord in heaven they knelt in prayer
And committed Ward Memorial church to His care
He saw their faithfulness and began to bless
And increased the congregation, I do confess

Brother Joe became their preacherman
He was widely known as a Jesus fan
The church grew and grew and grew
The Lord added daily, sometimes one sometimes two

Faith and commitment to Christ the King
Makes the heavens rejoice and the angels sing
Ward Memorial is spreading the Good News
And the Lord is rapidly filling the pews

This poem is a tribute to those faithful few
And to the Lord who makes all things new
May Ward Memorial continue to be a light
And draw others to Jesus who makes things right.

DEMONS ARE REAL

I have battled some demons in my time....Did you know, too, that animals can be demon possessed? Remember in Mark Chapter Five when Jesus cast a LEGION of demons into a herd of swine?

I once went to a man's house with my brother-in-law. We drove into his yard, and were immediately surrounded by four vicious attack dogs (rottweilers)...We couldn't get out, so my brother-in-law decided to leave.

The next day, I went there by myself. The same dogs were there and come running up to my vehicle...I felt an evil presence (the hair of my flesh stood up..Job 4 verse 15), the power of the Holy Spirit came upon me, and I said "Shut up and back off in the name of Jesus!"....Immediately the dogs backed up, started whimpering like small puppies: I got out of my vehicle and walked all around the place as the dogs stood silently staring at me.

Once I had a man come at me with a knife. I was reading the story of David and Goliath to a little girl, when this demon possessed man burst through the back door of her mother's house. He had been stalking and harassing this woman; her 10 year old son had a BB gun trying to protect his mom. When he came at me with the knife, the hair of my flesh stood up, the power of the Holy Spirit came on me, I stuck my Bible in his face, and commanded, "Stop in the name of Jesus!"...He immediately hit the floor like he had been hit with a baseball bat. The little boy jumped behind me, and said, "I'm on your side!" The woman's 16 year old niece said, "I have never seen anything like that!". At that time, too, the sheriff pulled up, and took this man away.

Later, every one in the house that night was saved....first the little girl, then a few years later, the mama, the man, the niece and son.

Yes, the devil and his demons are real...but "Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world"...

Just two examples....I have many more.

Be blessed in Jesus!

Walking with the Lord

Walking with the Lord

Enoch and Noah were two with whom the Lord did walk
I sure would have liked to been there to hear them talk
What deep conversations they must have had
Some of the things the Lord told them made them sad

How did Enoch feel when God took him away
It must have been a bright and glorious day
Noah was told that the world would come to an end
God informed him that a great flood he would send

Walking ahead of someone is mighty fine
Walking behind someone makes you second in line
But walking with someone is a special thing
Especially if you are walking with Jesus the king

The Lord gave me a title to a little book
It is called "My Walk with the Lord", take a look
Amazing true stories of life are in its' pages
Of my walk with the Lord through life's stages

A VERY SHORT PRAYER HEARD BY GOD

A VERY SHORT PRAYER HEARD BY GOD

Matthew 6 verse 7: "But when ye pray, use not vain repititions, as the heathen do; for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."

One Sunday night, I had the privilege to lead the adult Bible study at my home church. I taught on prayer and about the importance of the prayer coming straight from your heart. All of us have heard many prayers; in fact, I once heard a prayer that lasted over an hour. Some prayers offered up say the same thing, "Lord bless our church, be with the pastor as he brings the message, bless our country, bless all the sick, shutins, and those in the nursing homes, etc". Some prayers that I have heard I could recite from memory...they were the same as if memorized, and not from the heart.

That particular night, the spirit moved amongst us and the Lord graciously blessed our service. There was an elderly man attending that night and his name was George. He had been having some medical problems, and family problems. I knew that he loved Jesus, but he was kind of shy and I had never heard him pray out loud. After I finished the Bible study, I asked that we all gather in a circle, hold hands and pray, asking for the Lord's help in our times of need. The Lord moved on me to ask George to begin the prayer. All eyes were closed, and every head was bowed, and there was a silence of a few minutes. Then I heard George's feeble voice, He prayed, "Lord, this here is George and you know what lies heavy on my heart." That was his prayer. As soon as he uttered these short words, the spirit of the Lord moved in a special way among all of us. There was not a dry eye in that group, we all felt the humbleness of George's prayer, and the child like faith that he had. What a wonderful ending to a Bible study on prayer!

About four months later, the Lord called George home. At his funeral, the preacher spoke of the time George had prayed, and what a blessing it was to hear those heartfelt words. That prayer touched the throne of God, and many lives. Praise the Lord for George's testimony!

Luke 18 verse 13: "And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner."

NO NEW THING UNDER THE SUN

Ecclesiastes Chapter 1 verse 9 "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun."

What do you suppose Solomon was writing about? I believe he was telling us that things existed (maybe in the old world before the flood), and they will exist again. Chapter One of Ecclesiastes sure does cause me to wonder of the mysteries which man can not explain.

FINGERPRINTS ARE A MYSTERY

FINGERPRINTS ARE A MYSTERY

There is a deep mystery that causes me to wonder
Why are fingerprints unique is the mystery I ponder
People may have the same color eyes, hair or skin
But no fingerprints are alike even on an identical twin

Why do you suppose that no fingerprints are the same
I believe it was to show us that from the Lord we came
And that each individual is special in His sight
God is the one who created the dark and the light

Billions of people have walked on the face of the earth
And God knew all about them even before their birth
Each life is a precious gift from the Father above
And fingerprints are just a reflection of God's great love
