WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHO, WHY...PRAYER

What, When, Where, Who, Why---Prayer

What answer can I give to those who often say
There is no God, why should I bother to pray
Storms of life come in every shape and form
A smooth sailing through life is surely not the norm

When do answers to prayers come, or do they come at all
Does God really hear my prayers when upon His name I call
I must keep on praying although no answer is in sight
My answer may come today or it may come this very night

Where should I pray, in a public or secret place
Should I be standing upright or should I fall upon my face
I've heard many prayers prayed in a pretty church
I've observed men praying from a lofty perch

Who should I pray to, Jesus is the only one
Who died on the cross, He is God's only son
I must pray with power like the holy men of old
I my time of need, I must be very bold

Why should I continue to pray, I must ask
Often my prayer time is such a difficult task
Interruptions come and doubt creeps in my head
My heart believes in Jesus, I know that He is not dead

The words of this poem were gleaned from many years
Of praying to Jesus, who has often wiped my tears
I've prayed many prayers during the past many days
I know that God hears and answers, in many ways

Without Jesus, I would have no prayers and no hope
Of a better day coming, I must hold on to the rope
The Word of God bids us to pray without ceasing
The prayers of God's children to Him are very pleasing

I have been published

My first book, My Walk with the Lord, was published in 2003 by selah publishing group. I have had articles published in newspapers, one I wrote "My Favorite Christmas memory" even won first place. I've written and published poems, gave them away, many of them are posted on different sites on the web.

It had been on my mind for years to write a book on my walk with the Lord, but the time was not right. When the time came, it took me 21 days to write this 184 page book. What is amazing to me is that my book is SLOWLY spreading across the world (it is kinda funny to see your book on Amazon, Japan, France, Germany and the other sites).

When I was in the Army (over 21 years), I wrote many regulations, how to articles, a column for the local Army paper, award certificates...I suppose some of these are still floatin around somewhere.

The thing about writing is that you never fully know who all has read what you wrote...and your words last.

Writing now for the Glory of the Lord.

The Devil Came by My House

Job 1 verses 7-10
7: And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
8: And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
9: Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
10: Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Yes, Satan walked by Job's house, but God had a hedge of protection around him. He could not penetrate it without God's permission. Does the devil walk about the earth today? Does he look for ones to attack? Yes, he does. 1 Peter 5 verse 8, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."

During my 18 years of serving Jesus, I have experienced many vicious attacks from the devil...from being assaulted, shot at, oppressed, attacks on my health, finances, family, and ministry. Yet, through these many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come. My experience has been, that right before the LORD moves mightily in your behalf, the enemy comes in like a flood.

One night I was talking on the phone with a friend of mine when suddenly, my dog started fiercely barking. The hair of my flesh stood up (Job 4, verses 14-16 14: Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.
15: Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:
16: It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying, ). My friend asked me what was wrong, and I replied "The devil just walked by". Immediately the Holy Spirit came on him and he began to pray for protection for me. I saw in a vision the enemy strolling by and the hedge of protection that he could not get through.

Yes, the devil is real but greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.

Ward Memorial Church

A small white church sits at the edge of town
Some people said why don't you tear it down
After all, the congregation is only three or four
You might as well close the church door

These few saints, faithful to the Lord
Kept the door open though they could barely afford
To pay the preacher, the utilities and the rest
They gave from their hearts their very best

To the Lord in heaven they knelt in prayer
And committed Ward Memorial church to His care
He saw their faithfulness and began to bless
And increased the congregation, I do confess

Brother Joe became their preacherman
He was widely known as a Jesus fan
The church grew and grew and grew
The Lord added daily, by one and by two

Faith and commitment to Christ the King
Makes the heavens rejoice and the angels sing
Ward Memorial is spreading the Good News
And the Lord is rapidly filling the pews

This poem is a tribute to those faithful few
And to the Lord who makes all things new
May Ward Memorial continue to be a light
And draw others to Jesus who makes things right.
