Life Is Like a Football Game

Life Is Like a Football Game

Football games can be fun and exciting to watch. Throughout the game, there are moments of victory when a touchdown is scored, there are moments of disappointment..a fumble or intercepted pass, or a blocked kick. Teams begin the game, both expecting to be victorious. The team members have trained for game time...some players give their full 100 percent, others do not. Some players sit on the bench, others only enter the game in special situations...the kicker only comes in when needed.

American football, from peewees to the National Football League, consist of four quarters of play, with a halftime in between. Some teams rack up much points during the first quarter, and then coast to an easy victory. Other teams wait until the fourth quarter, and then win at the last moment. Some games go into overtime, where victory is determined by whichever team scores first. The fourth quarter and overtime periods are often times where the players have run out of energy. They are tired, but keep on playing because they can see victory ahead.

The Bible speaks of our life span as being 70 years (Psalm 90 verse 10..."The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.")

If we live to be 80, we have four quarters of life to play life's game. The first quarter would be 0 to 20, the second quarter 20 to 40, the third quarter 40 to 60, and the fourth quarter 60 to 80. After that would be overtime. Like in a football game, everyone is not guaranteed to complete the whole game. Some die during the first quarter of their life..just go down to the local cemetery and check the graves of those who died young. Others go out of life's game in the second, third and fourth quarters. Some are injured and have to sit on the sidelines. Some live past 80 and are in "overtime". Recently, a man from our area that was 106 died. He had victory in the game of life because he had trusted Jesus as his savior.

Just like a football game, life's game comes to an end for all. What lies ahead? Victory can be assured if one has accepted Jesus as their savior. He has given victory of death, hell and the grave.

1 Corinthians 15 verses 55-57, "O DEATH, WHERE IS THY STING? O GRAVE, WHERE IS THY VICTORY? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ".

God Is Able

Entry for October 28, 2006 God Is Able
2Ch 25:9 And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this. Yes, the Lord is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than we can imagine. Keep on praying, and surely, like Jacob in the days of old who wrestled with the Lord all night in prayer, God will send answers. Jacob wouldn't let go until the Lord blessed him. (Genesis 32 verses 24-32). Have you been in hard places? Have you been struggling in prayer for answers? Does it seem as if there is no light at the end of your tunnel? Keep on praying for surely God has heard your heart's cries and will send deliverance right on time. Don't give up. Keep on holding on to God's unchanging hand. You are His child and He cares for you. Irvin aka walkin2e

Prayer for America

Lord Jesus, I lift our nation unto You who controls the affairs of men. Heavenly Father, remember this day ALL the prayers of those who have prayed for the United States of America. Remember when, O Lord, the children of Israel were in bondage in the land of Egypt. They kept on sighing, and crying because of their oppression. You heard their groaning, and You remembered your covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. You looked upon the children of Israel and had respect unto them. Do the same for our nation, O Lord.

I'm asking that You remember when you sent me to Washington, D.C. to pray. Here is what happened, O Lord remember this prayer:

The Lord uses me as an intercessor to pray for others ministries. By the way, over the past 18 years, I have ministered at churches, street corners, radio, warehouses, nursing homes, flea markets, private houses and other places, including on the steps of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C., where I interceded in prayer for our nation. The Lord sent me there, I left on a Thursday, drove all night, arrived on Friday morning. It was 700 miles from my house to the White House. The Lord told me to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol. It was hot in August, I had on an old straw hat (protected my bald head from sunburn). As soon as I got to the steps of the Capitol, I saw a woman standing by a mannequin of Jesus holding a lamb. Nearby was an American flag. I stepped up, she put "Amazing Grace" on a cassette recorder she had, I rendered a hand salute, held it as the Holy Ghost came on me, and tears began to pour down my cheeks. The crowd stood silent, as the words of Amazing Grace rang throughout the area. After it was over, I dropped my salute, went to parade rest, and the Lord spoke to me and said, "Mission Accomplished", You can go back home, now."

I also had a dream about praying for America. Here: http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=44185

The James Bess and Esma Manning Crosby Rozier Descendants

The James Bess Rozier and Esma Manning Descendants

The late 1800's in Georgia were a trying time
People worked hard just to have a dime
James Bess Rozier was a handsome lad
He made his McIntosh County parents mighty glad

Esma Manning was quite pretty little girl
She married Bess even though he was no earl
The Lord blessed their union and gave them six offspring
Joy to their little home these little children did bring

Gladys and Essie Mae were those precious girls
J.B, Owen, A.J. and Joe were the boys, one had curls
This house full of young ones was mighty grand
They were the most loved children in the land

Gladys was glamorous and married a Texas cowboy
Uncle Bill drove a Ford Thunderbird such a pretty toy
Essie Mae married a handsome Pierce County dandy
With tools and such Uncle Wyley was mighty handy

J.B. moved to Kentucky to find his bride
No thoroughbred horses did Aunt Ethel ride
Owen married a Kicklighter, a neighbor's pretty lass
Aunt Violet is a humble woman with plenty of class

A.J. married sweet Mary from the Archie Winn clan
These two are my parents, a great woman and man
Joe married a Kicklighter, must be something there
Aunt Maxine always stood by him no matter where

Grandpa Bess died in early nineteen and thirty three
He never held one of his grandchildren on his knee
Grandma Rozier was left with six little ones to feed
And not much money to buy any garden seed

She married Mr. Chambers who lived just a short while
But he brought joy to her and made her crack a smile
Then Grandma was blessed to meet another loving man
Silas Crosby was the one chosen as part of God's plan

From their union my dear Aunt Virginia was born
She married Uncle Billy who loved to plant corn
Grandma Crosby left us in nineteen and sixty four
I'll always remember her smile as I entered her front door

A.J., J.B., Owen, Mae, and Joe are now with their Mom and Dad
In that eternal haven of rest they are forever happy and glad
I just imagine Grandpa holding these three grandsons on his knee
I can see Owen, Clyde and little Wyley laughing with glee

On October 7th, 2006 we are having a family day
A time of fellowship, food, and fun what can I say
The descendants of Grandpa and Grandma are all kin
My prayer is that we all make it to heaven, amen.
