Crooked Paths

I was reading Ecclesiastes and the Lord had me write this poem based on Eccl 7 v 13:

"Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked".

Crooked Paths

I was happily strolling along a broad straight road
I was whistling and singing because of my light load
Things were going my way and the path was clear
I was having a really great and wonderful year

The first sign of trouble was that little bump I felt
I stopped a few minutes and to my knees I knelt
I prayed the Lord would flatten that little bump
Or give me the strength and grace to over it jump

I conquered that bump and went merrily on my way
Little did I realize what obstacles in my path lay
But I knew the Lord had ordained my life's path
The number of trials I left to him, I'm not good at math

My path became murky, boggy and filled with crooks
Refuge I took in my Bible, the great book of books
Danger lay up the middle, to the left and to the right
Sometimes my path was dark as the blackest night

Can I make straight the crooked path laid by the King
Or change the course of scenery that detours bring
That is why I say unto you who are in a crooked place
Trust in Jesus our Lord who authors our life's race

Sure I would like to be on a broad and clear path
And never experience the storm's powerful wrath
But how would I know that the Lord delivers and mends
Smooths the rough road and straightens those bends

Those crooks in the road are a blessing in disguise
Gives strength to the weak and wisdom to the wise
At the end of this crooked road I will lay down my load
Enter into his rest and with him I will ever abode

A POWERFUL WEAPON

A POWERFUL WEAPON

Many weapons have been invented over the years
Weapons were created because of men's fears
Of enemies attacking and trying to maim and kill
Or thieves breaking in and trying to rob and steal

Knives, spears, arrows, guns, axes and much more
Are sold everyday in your local Walmart store
Personal weapons these instruments are called
The numbers sold everyday would make you appalled

Now Army weapons are a whole different thing
Tanks, artillery, mortars and bombs can havoc bring
Weapons of mass destruction can cause quite a stir
These are a class by themselves, a whole new gear

All of these man-made weapons are powerful indeed
But faith in God is the one weapon you really need
Nothing is impossible with God's faith in your heart
Moses prayed with faith and the Red Sea did part

By faith the walls of Jericho tumbled to the ground
By faith Enoch was translated and was not found
Through faith armies of aliens were turned to flight
Through faith the land was rid of the deadly blight

Take the word of God as a sword and faith as a shield
And before your eyes the enemy will crumble and yield
One day all weapons will be turned into plowshares
And faith in God will be the only weapon a man bears

Psalm 90

Moses was talking to God in prayer (a privilege reserved for God's children). In this prayer, he acknowledged the greatness of God, and remphasized the fact that God is not limited by time (a thousand years to God is as yesterday). He asked the Lord for wisdom (teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom). Proverbs 2 verse 6 "For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding".

Moses realized that the days we have here on earth are numbered and come from the LORD. He acknowledged that he had "bad" days (which also came from the LORD), but he prayed for "good" days. Moses knew that there was a time and a season for everything under heaven. He knew this because he had been in the wilderness (Deuteronomy 8 verse 2..."And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no".

God called Moses a "humble" man, and indeed Moses was humble. Being humble means that one realizes that everything, the good and the bad, comes from the hand of God.

Moses and his people had experienced many trials, troubles, and tribulations. He longed for peace and rest from these trials, and he prayed and asked God for joy, gladness, and spiritual mercy (Ps 90 v 17.."And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it").

I believe this was a prayer not only for this fleeting earthly life, but a prayer longing for the joys and rest of heaven.

Yes, our days are numbered here on earth, but one day we will be with the LORD where time exists no more.

Job had rest from his trials and the LORD showed tender mercy and compassion for him (Job 42 verses 10-17) and James 5 verse 11..."Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the LORD; that the LORD is very pitiful, and of tender mercy."

Will Jesus Come Today?

Will Jesus Come Today?

The Bible speaks of a day when Jesus comes back
On that day there will be no time to pack
In a moment in a twinkling of an eye
His glorious appearing will be seen in the sky

The Father has the times and the seasons in His power
Only He knows the day the minute and the hour
When His son Jesus comes to claim His own
And gather them with a love that has never been known

How Jesus must long to bring His children home
To be safe in His arms never more to roam
Today could be that very wonderful day
When Jesus brings His children home to stay

Coming Out of Obscurity

Coming Out of Obscurity

Elijah the prophet came from nowhere...he burst on the scene when he said these words "And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word." (1 Kings 17 v 1)

After he made this prophetic utterance, the Lord told him to go hide by the brook, the Lord told him he would drink from the brook, and the ravens would feed him. Elijah went and did according to what the LORD told him. After awhile, the brook dried up because of no rain, then the LORD told Elijah to go to Zarephath and a widow woman would sustain him. He went according to the word of the LORD, but the widow woman was down to just a handful of meal (because of the famine). Then Elijah had a word from the LORD "The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth" (I Kings 17 v 14).

Mind you, Elijah was hidden in obscurity....by the brook and with the widow woman and her son (that Elijah raised from the dead). The LORD was with him, and sustaining him until the proper time came.

Then that day came, and Elijah came out from retirement, from being hidden in obscurity to being widely known. "And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth." (1 Kings 18 v 1).

This morning, I was talking to the LORD and I had told him I felt like Elijah when he was hidden by the brook. I was praying and asking the LORD for understanding, and direction, and suddenly, I heard a song playing on my radio, named "By the Brook", a song about Elijah and the time he spent hidden by the brook. The LORD said, "Stay by the brook until the time comes, though it tarries, it will surely come".

There are many in obscurity, that the world knows little about, but are the "Apples" of God's eyes. I say unto all of these, that your time hidden by the brook is not in vain, and at the proper time, the LORD will give direction and say, "Come out of retirement, I have a mission for you to do".

Psalm 105 v 19 "Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him."

Prayer for President Bush

Lord Jesus, I lift up the name of George W. Bush before you this day
Lord you lift up leaders and set down leaders and this is why I pray
Presidents and kings are all ordained and put in place by you
Today, O Lord, touch President Bush and his strength renew

Our country is in dire need of a revival throughout the land
And our President needs to be guided by your mighty hand
Listen and answer the prayers of your little children
As they pray for their President, can I get an amen.
